Let’s talk about it!

What it means to be confident

Let’s define confidence within the context of mental health.

Confidence is simply knowing that you believe in yourself.

It is not worrying about how you are coming across to others or concerning yourself with being perfect.

Confidence is a choice. You can have no knowledge about a topic but be confident in your discussion of it and how your handling said discussion - maybe not in your knowledge of it, but that is okay. Confidence is about being transparent about what you do not know and being okay with not knowing.

To clarify - this doesn’t mean pretending you know what you talk about. Rather what this means is that within the discussion you can be confident that it is okay to not know about the topic. You are confident in YOU regardless of your knowledge.  You can be confident in yourself even without being confident in the topic.

Confidence is more about your comfortability of being you rather then it is about being perfect in a skill or knowledge base.
